One of the most valuable initiatives implemented by the current Government was to fully fund NZQA Level 6 practical procurement training from July 2020, via the Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund. After all, what better investment is there, than practical training on how to make more efficient use of public money?
… but right now, it’s not guaranteed that the funding will continue in 2023.
If you’re thinking about gaining better procurement skills, through a qualification that’s perfectly designed for full-time NZ public sector procurement people, it makes sense to jump in fast and aim to finish while the funding is guaranteed!
Our programme for the NZQA qualification has a two-day foundation block course, followed by five work-based assignments which are supported with one-on-one expert guidance. Most people complete their assignments largely on job activities, so there’s not a lot of additional study required.
You can organise a hosted two-day course at your own venue (minimum 10 people), or come to a foundation course scheduled in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch over the next six weeks.

If you’re an existing student, get your skates on to demonstrate your skills on your remaining job-based assignments. Contact your assessor or our office right away if you’re not sure what you should do next.
If you’re doing procurement well, you’ll be able to use your work-based activities as your evidence for the assignments and there’s not a lot of extra study needed.
In any case, if you think that building skills to make best use of taxpayer and ratepayer dollars should continue to be financially supported by Government, please contact your local MP to ask for their support.
